The Honda – Ohio State Partnership, formed as a result of the establishment and evolution of the Transportation Research Center, marks its 20th anniversary in October 2020 when the memorandum of understanding between the company and the university was signed. In that time, the partnership has matured to a strategic focus on talent development, research and community, supporting the future needs of Honda, Ohio State and society as a whole. Please join us for a lively discussion examining the impact and celebrating the past, present and future of this unique and fruitful relationship.

Kristina M. Johnson, PhD | President, The Ohio State University

Kristina M. Johnson, PhD, is the 16th president of The Ohio State University. She brings to Ohio State more than 30 years of experience and leadership in the academic, business and public policy sectors. She had served as chancellor of the State University of New York (SUNY) since 2017. Prior to that, she founded and served as CEO of several successful science and technology companies, served as under secretary of energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and held academic leadership positions at institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, Duke University and the University of Colorado at Boulder. David B. Williams, PhD | Dean, The Ohio State University College of Engineering

Dr. David B. Williams is the Monte Ahuja Endowed Dean's Chair and the 22nd dean of the College of Engineering at Ohio State, a leading research institution and one of the nation’s most distinguished land-grant universities. As Engineering Dean, Williams is responsible for the strategic vision, mission and goals of the college, oversees the education of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, leads a research program that expends $150M annually and is responsible for the administration of 950 combined faculty, research scientists and staff. Rick Schostek | Executive Vice President of Regional Operations of American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Rick Schostek is an executive vice president of Regional Operations of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM), with responsibility for overseeing various functions that provide support to the entire North American region, including Auto Operations, Corporate Affairs, IT Planning & Operations, Finance, Human Resources & Administration, Legal and Intellectual Properties. Brett Roubinek | President and CEO, Transportation Research Center, Inc.

Brett Roubinek is president and CEO of Transportation Research Center, Inc., North America’s most comprehensive independent automotive test center and proving ground, providing a full range of research opportunities for the world’s innovators in automotive and mobility technologies. Roubinek came to TRC in March 2016, bringing more that 25 years of experience in growing businesses and fostering innovation across the automotive ecosystem, including on-track proficiency as a professional racecar driver and instructor. Deborah Scherer | Managing Director, Global Trade and Investment, OneColumbus

As managing director of global trade and investment, Deb works to identify foreign-owned companies with interests to expand in the United States, and helps them evaluate the advantages of why the Columbus Region is a location of choice for a U.S. facility. She also helps Columbus Region-based companies connect with training and resources that will help them sales abroad. Her previous private sector experience as an international sales manager included industrial sales and marketing responsibilities in five continents, territory development, and mergers and acquisitions. MODERATOR: Eddie Pauline | Director of Economic Engagement at The Ohio State University

Eddie Pauline serves as the Director of Economic Engagement for The Ohio State University's Corporate Engagement Office. In his role, Eddie leads the office’s Economic Development function, supporting business retention, expansion and attraction efforts in partnership with local and statewide economic development partners. These efforts drive new opportunities to University faculty, staff and students in the form of strategic partnerships and help enhance Ohio State’s overall economic impact to the State of Ohio which currently stands at more than $15 billion.
